Grand Opening Worship & Celebration!

It is with great joy and in an attitude of profound thanksgiving to God that I write, inviting you to Redeemer Presbyterian Church’s Grand Opening and Dedication of its new facility in downtown San Antonio on May 25th, 2014.

The Psalmist declares:

Oh sing to the Lord a new song;
Sing to the Lord, all the earth!
Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
Tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
His marvelous works among all the peoples! (Ps. 96:1-3)

If you are relatively new to Redeemer Church, it may be hard to imagine that only a few short years ago Redeemer was a mere dream. There were no services, members, ministries, revenues—or buildings. At the beginning, I literally had only a few contacts, some scribbled on scraps of napkins. Even so, confident in the Lord's direction (and glad for not knowing all that I know now), Tara and I moved our family to San Antonio to see if God would launch a center city church. We envisioned a church that would bring the ancient and life-giving message of the Gospel to people of our city, which would in turn anchor a wide array of ministries, all seeking to bless and serve our great city, South Texas and beyond.

Now, more than twelve years later, it is intensely satisfying to have had the privilege of participating in this great movement of the Holy Spirit in our city. God has given Redeemer both a glad song and an ever-expanding mission. By God’s grace, we have continually grown in our understanding of the depth and breadth of His love for us in Jesus Christ. Consequently, the Gospel and our church communion have become sweeter and dearer to us all.

As with all of God’s blessings, the privileges we enjoy are never limited to us alone; they are to be shared. Our joy and gratitude for the Gospel, then, are what propel our mission to declare God’s glory to the people of our city and world.

It is in this light that we want to share this important milestone in the life of Redeemer with our friends, family and those new to our city. God is doing a great work among us and for this reason we want to share it with as many as will listen.

Therefore, I sincerely hope that you will not only join us, but that you will encourage many others to attend our first services of worship this upcoming Sunday, at either 9:00 or 10:45 a.m. A celebration reception will follow the later service.
