With all of the excitement about Redeemer’s upcoming transition, it is important that we not overlook this year’s slate of officer candidates, who will be voted on at a congregational meeting on June 1st following the 10:45 a.m. worship service.

On May 1st, the Session announced to the congregation that John Browning, Jason Smith, Winston Meeker and Henry Sauer are candidates to serve on the Session as ruling elders. Having already served in this capacity, John Browning and Jason Smith are eligible to return to the Session. Jason Smith will be a candidate in the class of 2016 and John Browning will be a candidate in the class of 2017. Winston Meeker and Henry Sauer, both new candidates for ruling elder, will be eligible for the class of 2017.

Additionally, Jim Ritchie and Dan Wachdorf are new candidates for the Diaconate, class of 2017. Craig Goedecke, who has already served one term on the Diaconate, joins them as eligible for election in the class of 2017.

The Session has instructed, examined and approved these men in the qualifications, duties and their willingness to assume responsibility for ordained office in the Presbyterian Church in America. They are now being recommended by the Session to the congregation as eligible for election at the upcoming congregational meeting on June 1st.

The Session encourages the congregation to get to know these candidates and be prayerful for them and their families over the next month. It is important that we ask the Lord to guide us as we prepare to elect Redeemer’s newest leaders!
