What to Expect

At Redeemer, we love children and welcome them into the life of the church as fellow heirs to the kingdom. So that they may learn to love and trust Jesus from a young age, we strive to create a place of safety, joy and warmth for them in the church. Our children’s ministries start with nursery for our youngest members and grow with them as they learn to participate in the worship service and pursue deeper knowledge of the gospel and the scriptures in Christian Education classes.

If you are planning your first Sunday at Redeemer, you may pre-register your children for nursery or children’s ministry programs here. Our children’s ministry greeters are located outside the nursery and downstairs near the Christian Education classrooms. Whether you have pre-registered or not, these greeters will help check your children into the appropriate ministry area.

Nursery, ages 3 months through 4 years old: The Redeemer nursery is located on the main floor of the church across from the sanctuary. Visit the Nursery page to learn more about the policies of the nursery.

Training in the Pews (TIP), ages 4-6: At Redeemer, we encourage children to join their families in the worship service as early as possible. Around the age of 4 children should begin to transition out of the nursery and attend the worship service. Just before the sermon, children ages 4-6 are dismissed to our Training in the Pews program, where they are led by children’s ministry volunteers in singing worship songs and are taught a Bible lesson thorugh a curriculum called Teach Me To Worship. The curriculum presents and explains common elements of worship that the universal church has used throughout the ages. At the conclusion of the sermon, children rejoin their families in the sanctuary for communion and the conclusion of the worship service.

Christian Education (CE), ages Pre-K4-5th grade, (11 a.m. hour only): From late August through mid-May, our Christian Education program offers classes for children ages 4 through 5th grade. Children age two and up in the nursery also have a special time of singing and a Bible Story during the CE hour. Christian Education runs concurrent to the 11 a.m. worship service. The teaching for children in this hour is focused on equipping our children with a solid understanding of the gospel and the Scriptures. Volunteers from the congregation serve on teaching teams to lead CE classes.  Learn more about CE programs here.
