Pastors

Tom Gibbs, Senior Pastor

Prior to relocating in San Antonio, Tom and Tara Gibbs ministered to college students for more than seven years. Five of those years were spent as the campus minister of Reformed University Fellowship–the PCA’s national university ministry–at Baylor University in Waco, TX.

Tom is a graduate of Auburn University (‘92) and Tara graduated from the University of Mississippi (‘91). After two years of working as a youth director in Birmingham, AL, Tom and Tara attended Covenant Theological Seminary where Tom received his Master of Divinity (‘97).

The Gibbs have four children: Anna Catherine, Thomas, Lucy, and Caroline.

On a personal note...soon after we came to Texas, the need for a new PCA congregation in San Antonio was evident. It didn’t take long for our hearts to be strongly knit to idea that the center-city area of San Antonio had a need for a “Gospel-driven” church to love and serve the city. This is the work to which God has called us.

Brandon S. Eggar, Assistant Pastor

Brandon joined the staff in 2006 as our Assistant Pastor of Congregational Life. Prior to being called to Redeemer, Brandon and his wife, Neecia, lived in Dallas where Brandon served on the staff of Park Cities Presbyterian Church and attended Westminster Theological Seminary earning his Master of Divinity (’06).

Brandon is a graduate of Dallas Baptist University (’97) and Neecia attended Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar, MO. The Eggars have three children, Addisyn, Will and Owen. Brandon and Neecia have been married for over ten years and they love living in Texas, serving in Texas, and cheering for Texas, the Longhorns, that is.

Victor R. Martinez, Assistant Pastor

Víctor R. Martínez, was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. The youngest of four children, he worshipped with his family at the local Presbyterian Church. His grandfather, Alvaro Morales-Zambrana, was part of the first generation of indigenous Presbyterian pastors in the island.
In 1986, while attending Mississippi State University, Víctor sensed God’s calling to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps. After college, Víctor enrolled in Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. It was there that he met Jeannie, his future wife and partner in ministry. Together they served as missionaries with the Southern Baptist Convention until 2001. Víctor has planted churches and served as pastor in Dallas, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Puerto Rico, and has taught Seminary in Puerto Rico, as well as a Brazilian seminary extension program in Cambridge, MA. During that time, Víctor also coordinated ethnic missions in the New England states. Víctor served as Asst. Professor of Theological Studies at Baptist University of the Américas for 7 years in San Antonio. Víctor and Jeannie have two teenage children, Caleb and Gabriela. As a family they are rejoicing that God has brought them to the Presbyterian tradition of Víctor’s childhood. Their call is that in all things Christ and His Church be served, as He establishes His Kingdom on earth. They love to spend time “en familia”…sharing a cafecito and a good conversation.

Michael Novak, RUF Campus Minister, Trinity University

Michael and his wife, Rachel, are both originally from Memphis, TN. Michael attended the University of Tennessee - the other UT, while Rachel attended Covenant College in Chattanooga, TN. Before moving to Texas, Michael attended Covenant Theological Seminary (MDiv'10) where he studied the Bible, theology, and counseling.

Michael and Rachel have two children, Caleb who was born in 2008 and Abigail who was born in 2010. They enjoy being outdoors, taking visits to the zoo, watching movies, and finding unique restaurants to enjoy a good meal. Michael also enjoys running, golf, and college football.
