Will You Serve in the Nursery

January 29, 2014
Sarah Beaugh
When you serve in the nursery, you are being entrusted with the most vulnerable members of our church family. This great honor and responsibility is given to all of us who are willing to serve in this way. The church nursery is the first contact young families will have with Redeemer. Your friendly face and exceptional care can make a great first impression on those visiting our church. From firsthand experience, we knew Redeemer was a great fit for our family as our children had a peaceful experience in nursery and looked forward with ...

From the Garden to the City

January 20, 2014
Rev. Dr. Tom Gibbs
From the Garden to the City! (starting Sunday, February 2nd) In preparation for moving into Redeemer’s new home downtown, our sermon series this spring will be devoted to understanding God’s purpose for the city and the Christians who live in them. It has long been noted that God began history in a Garden, but his purposes conclude in a city. The story of humanity begins with Adam and Eve carefully placed in the garden, which is watered by a beautiful river, abounding with food and is centered on two trees: the Tree of Life, which ...

Scripture Memory With No Excuses

January 16, 2014

- Fighter Verses phone app Rocks! Do you ever find yourself wishing you could memorize Scripture?  …perhaps washing out on a Scripture memory program after a couple of weeks?  This is certainly my experience personally and as mother.  No Christian who has read their Bible can deny the overwhelming blessings promised to those who store God’s Word in their heart.  God’s Word encourages, protects, and leads us through every obstacle we encounter—whether temptation from within or hard times from without.  Even though most of us would attest to ...

On Spiritual Formation - New Class

January 09, 2014
Rev. Dr. Tom Gibbs
“The way of Jesus cannot be imposed or mapped — it requires an active participation in following Jesus as he leads us through sometimes strange and unfamiliar territory, in circumstances that become clear only in the hesitations and questionings, in the pauses and reflections where we engage in prayerful conversation with one another and with him.” ― Eugene H. Peterson, The Jesus Way: A Conversation on the Ways That Jesus Is the Way This Sunday, January 12th, Redeemer begins the second installment of its new series of Spiritual Formation ...

Building Update Jan. 8

January 08, 2014
Benjie Slaton
While you were relaxing over the Christmas holidays, there was lots of activity at the building.  I’ll focus on three areas.  On the first floor, electricians have been running wire and the sheetrock is going up.  The Offices and Nursery are starting to take shape.  You can see some of this…along with lots of dust (the quality of pictures leaves a little to be desired).  In the basement, the demolition crew has almost completed removing every vestige of the old YMCA.  You can see across the entire basement now and only a few piles of debris ...

Enjoy the Victory

Well, it’s hard to believe another season of college football has finally come to an end. I know for some of you this is welcome relief; the suffering is over and hopes for next can now begin. As an Auburn fan, however, this has been a dream season. Who would have thought after going 3-9 a season ago that Auburn would have played for the national championship? Even though Auburn lost last night to a very good Florida State team, this season has been nothing short of remarkable. War Eagle! As Auburn’s march towards a great season gathered ...
