The Building for the Future Campaign

The Building for the Future Capital Campaign, completed in April of 2018, positions Redeemer to prepare for the next phases of growth and ministry in San Antonio. The $3.85 million formal goal of the campaign was met and exceeded. Thanks be to God! You can read about the goals of the campaign below.

By God's grace, Redeemer has experienced significant growth in our 15-year history, especially since moving into our downtown facility. We have also expanded our ministry footprint, supporting 6 church plants in the region and growing ministry partnerships with 44 community organizations across our city.

Redeemer's Session and church leadership prayerfully considered how best to provide room for our growing congregation and plan ahead for the next phase of Redeemer's ministry and growth. From that process came the Building for the Future Campaign.

The campaign had a total financial goal of $3.85 million and three main focus areas:

  • To create extra space for our Children's Ministry: We will renovate 4,000 square feet in the St. Mary's facility so that we can better accommodate the more than 500 children and youth connected to Redeemer. This will give these vital ministries breathing room for the growth we are already experiencing. The estimate for this portion of the campaign is $310,000.
  • To address existing debt: We will pay off the mortgage on the St. Mary's facility. This ensures continued fiscal responsibility in Redeemer's annual operating/ministry budget and better prepares us for the next phase of the life of the church and our ministry to the city. The goal for this portion of the campaign is $2,740,000.
  • To Plan Ahead: As we continue to grow, stretching our current facilities to serve the congregation, we are also looking to the future. The third goal of the campaign is to make at least a $450,000 payment on our existing mortgage for the River City Federal Credit Union building at 610 Augusta. This allows us to be prepared for the potential of Redeemer's future expansion into the entire city block.

"Seeing lives changed because of the impact of grace is as central as to Redeemer's mission as it has ever been. On account of Redeemer's growth, the breadth and depth of the church's impact in urban San Antonio is increasing."

- Senior Pastor Tom Gibbs
