Children of Redeemer - Growing in Gospel Freedom

"Bringing the heart of the Gospel to the heart of the child."

And Jesus took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but the one who sent me.” (Mk. 9:36-37)

And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me: do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them. (Mk. 10:13-16)

The Kingdom of God and its Values
The Kingdom of God values children - those most vulnerable in our midst. God has chosen to work through the institution of families as a primary means by which the treasure of the Gospel is passed on. As a result Children’s Ministries at Redeemer is one of our highest priorities. We want to help your children learn about Christ, his redeeming love, and our great need for him in our lives as Savior and Lord.

Opportunity for Children of the Covenant

Nurseries - There are four nurseries for children up to the age of three.
Infants I - 0-9 months
Infants II - 10-18 months
Toddlers I - 19-27 months
Toddlers II - 28-36 months

Training in the Pews (for 3-5 year olds during the sermon) is designed to help prepare children for full participation in corporate worship with their families. The children will hear a message on the same Biblical text as the adult sermon, presented in a way that is age-appropriate, and engaging. They will also sing songs that help them to memorize Bible verses, or learn important truths of our faith. Training in the Pews is not meant to replace worship with the congregation, but rather to assist parents in training your child. After the sermon, children are brought back into the worship service to participate in communion and the remainder of worship with their families.

Christian Education classes for 2 year olds-6th grade) utilizes traditional Sunday School Bible stories woven together with Catechism instruction. Both seek to help your child understand the love of Jesus and the truth of His Word. The Gospel will always be the center of our instruction. We use Great Commission Publications’ curriculum in our classes.

Communicants Seminar helps children of the congregation to understand the essentials of the Christian faith and what it means to become a communicant member of the church. This course is offered one to two times a year.

Vacation Bible School is a valuable tool for reaching churched and unchurched children in a fun and relaxed atmosphere with games, skits, Bible stories and crafts that all point to Jesus and His Word.
