2015 End-of-Year Giving Update

November 15 2015

Dear Members and Friends,

As 2015 comes to a close, I find myself asking, “How has another year passed so quickly?” I guess the old adage is true: “Time flies when you’re having fun!” Just this past week at our most recent Newcomers Dessert, I was especially reminded of God’s rich blessings upon Redeemer. My wife and I host these desserts about six times a year and it is always fascinating to hear the stories of those God is bringing to Redeemer and exciting to invite into Redeemer’s story those who attend.

As a congregation gathered in the name of Jesus, this dance of hearing and inviting individuals into the grace-filled story of Christ is at the heart of everything we do. We are listening to those who live in our city and inviting its dwellers to become citizens of the Holy City that is yet to come. As those who possess dual citizenships — in San Antonio and in the New City of God — Christians, then, are to bring God’s kingdom of grace, truth and love to bless this world.

From the beginning this has been Redeemer’s mission. How encouraging it has been to see Redeemer continue to make strides in its pursuit over the past year! For example, Redeemer has experienced as rapid of growth in membership and attendance as ever in our history. The official launch into weekly worship by our Westover Hills congregation, led by Pastor Manny Alaniz, has been especially encouraging and gives tangible evidence of how Redeemer’s ministry is expanding its scope.

Evidence of God’s hand upon our church is also seen in His rich, financial provision. Having already received $1,074,475 in tithes and offerings, 2015 is on pace for another record-breaking year. In fact, the Session is so optimistic about Redeemer’s potential for giving that it is considering additional projects related to renovating the unfinished portions of the building should Redeemer exceeds its budgeted goals. In order to accomplish that vision, the Session anticipates needing $345,000 to meet all of our targeted goals for 2015, but believes that Redeemer can give an additional $250,000, which would enable us to complete those projects downstairs essential to support our growing children’s ministries.

Therefore, as this year comes to a close it is so important that we remember how essential our financial contributions are. Please sacrificially and prayerfully consider what your year-end giving will be to ensure that Redeemer fulfills all of our commitments.

Again, thank you for helping make 2015 a historic year. Let’s continue working hard to hear the stories of our city and to invite its dwellers into the Story of the Redeemer!

For Christ our Redeemer,
