2025 Ministry Report

I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. (1 Corinthians 3:6-7)

Dear Redeemer Members and Friends,

The Apostle Paul’s reminder to early Christians in Corinth that growth in the church is always attributable to God himself feels on point for Redeemer Presbyterian Church as 2025 has ended and 2026 begins. Real growth in church life always comes from God himself, working through us, beyond us, without us, or even against us at times. Only God gives the growth. Paul acknowledges to the Corinthians that he planted gospel seeds among them, and then that Apollos watered those seeds, but God is the One who gave the growth in Corinth.

The same goes for us here at Redeemer San Antonio. Our founding church planter and organizing pastor, Tom Gibbs, planted many wonderful seeds. Other longtime pastors, like Matt Beham and Victor Martinez, have planted and watered. Many faithful staff have watched over and tended the gardens here; some of these – like Haley Wachdorf, Lori Dante, and Jeremy Whitley – have recently left their servant-leader roles and are sorely missed by all of us. Other staff and officers continue to plant, water, and tend. Some of us find ourselves in seasons where we have less capacity to give, due to challenges we did not expect. Yet, even here, God is manifesting his strength in our weakness, still bringing surprising growth despite our limitations. In all of these circumstances, it is God who gives the growth.

And God has done so abundantly in 2025, with significant gains in Redeemer’s worship attendance, ministry involvement, and financial giving for our life together, as well as in our partnership with missionaries near and far. Our children’s ministry saw new growth, especially in our VBS and Art Camp initiatives. Our Spanish-speaking services have begun, and the Lord is blessing them under the preaching and leadership of Pablo Chavarria and Victor Martinez. RPC's youth ministry, RUF at Trinity University, and our women’s and men’s ministries are reaching out with the good news of Jesus in various and fruitful directions. The Lord gave us many rich special worship services, concerts, and fellowship events, particularly our Fall Festival and Christmas Party.

The Lord is clearly at work and is bringing growth at Redeemer. The gospel of Jesus is running and being glorified among us. (2 Thessalonians 3:1) May his name be praised, now and forever!

Whether you joined this congregation years ago or are new to Redeemer, we thank you for sharing in the life and mission that the Lord is growing here. You are a personal expression of the growth Christ is bringing here at Redeemer, to the glory of his name! Amen.

Happy 23rd Anniversary, Redeemer!
