Co-Lead Pastor Matt Beham's Upcoming Sabbatical

RPC Co-Lead Pastor Matt Beham will be taking a three-month sabbatical from May 5th to August 5th. Matt has served in ministry at Redeemer for 18 years and in a pastoral role for 10 of those years. He hasn’t taken a sabbatical since starting ministry at Redeemer, so this season will be a meaningful opportunity for rest and renewal.
Some of Matt’s goals are to rest, reflect on past ministry, and dream about the future. He is especially looking forward to a season of refreshment and is excited to spend time reading books for enjoyment rather than for his work. He hopes to enter the next decade
or more of ministry at Redeemer with renewed vigor and a deepened excitement about what’s ahead. With this in mind, he considers this sabbatical a great opportunity for Redeemer staff to step up, thrive, and be encouraged by how well things go in his absence. Matt expresses his gratitude for this opportunity: “I’m so thankful to Redeemer and our staff who work so hard, and to our session that supports our pastors so well. This is a great opportunity for me to rest in the fact that God is at work at Redeemer. This is God’s church, whether I’m there or on sabbatical.”
During this time, he will be spending intentional time with his wife, Haley, and his two children, Elliotte and Graham. They will be doing some traveling and enjoying unhurried time together as a family. He is very much looking forward to being present with them, free from the usual rhythms of classes and sermon preparation. Matt is currently working on his Doctor of Ministry degree, with a focus on church leadership, at Covenant Theological Seminary. During his sabbatical, he will also spend some time working on an
important paper toward his degree.
While on sabbatical, Matt will be unreachable by phone or email for any work-related matters. He plans to unplug in order to be present with his family fully. The Beham family will be attending another church during this time so that Matt can step away from his pastoral role and rest more completely.
Please join us in praying for Matt and the Beham family—for rest, joy, and a renewed sense of calling this summer!
