Summer Fellows

Redeemer Summer Fellows Program

Trying to discern your post-college plans?  Seeking to know what God wants for your life? Wanting to explore what that might look like?

A summer internship can help to bring clarity, and when paired with Christian Community and Spiritual Formation, the experience results in a deeply encouraging and formative summer.

The Purpose:

The Summer Fellows Program connects Christian college students with members of Redeemer in Christian vocation for meaningful summer internships. The program aims to:

  • help students view their future work through a Kingdom-minded lens.

  • provide businesses with high-quality internship candidates.

  • develop pathways for more Christians to affect the business sector of San Antonio.

  • strengthen students’ connection to Christian community at Redeemer.

Program Components

Internship

Each Fellow is paired with a Redeemer member working in the Fellow's field of interest. The internship site pays the Fellow a market rate for 9 weeks and provides work experience typical of someone in that profession.

Spiritual Formation

Every Friday morning, the Fellows attend theology class taught by a Redeemer staff member or church member with experience and/or training in the topic discussed. The Fellows will also read and process a book together discussing Christian vocation. And every Sunday and Wednesday, the Fellows will worship Christ together at church and RUF.

Christian Community

The members of Redeemer warmly welcome the College Fellows each summer on Sundays and Mondays for meals in their homes. Also, the Fellows become a part of Redeemer’s community by serving every Sunday together. And lastly, the Fellows are encouraged to enjoy organic experiences they decide to enjoy together in sunny San Antonio.

Endorsements from past Fellows

"The Redeemer Fellows program gave me a unique look into what it means to jump into church life, to serve weekly alongside fellow Christians, and to be welcomed into the homes and lives of God’s people."

"Being a summer fellow at Redeemer was an incredible experience. I’m beyond grateful for the ways in which I was able to grow in my understanding of faith, of work, of the Church, of the relationship between all of these, and I look forward to being able to apply them more and more."

"The Fellows Program does a beautiful job of showing that faith and work are not separate, but deeply intertwined. It provides the opportunity to see how people can live out their faith and reflect the light of God through their unique vocations."

"The Summer Fellows program was incredible! I loved the discipleship I received from the elders and families in the church, and getting to be part of a congregation that is fully committed to the life and work of the church was such a blessing. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of this program and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested!"
