BACKGROUND:  Reynosa is a large city with a floating population of 1,000,000 located on the U.S./Mexico Border, just South of McAllen, Texas.  Transient people from Central America and other parts of Latin America transit in and through the city with the hope and expectation of reaching the United States.

Isaiah 55 Ministries was established in 2005 as the first (and only) deaf school in Reynosa and the only deaf vocational program in Mexico.  Today, Isaiah 55 Ministries also provides an after school center providing a shelter against the lure of the cartels and sex industry.  Isaiah 55 Ministries is working to develop a community centered on the worship of Jesus Christ and equipped to provide for their families with honorable work. There is hopeful anticipation that a mission church will be planted in the community of Aquiles Serdán in the near future.

The proximate location of Isaiah 55 Ministries in Reynosa, Mexico provides the Redeemer church body a ripe opportunity to serve alongside some of the missionaries already supported by our congregation.  The medical clinic work is incidental and secondary to the prime mission of reaching people with the truth of the Gospel.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

• The Isaiah 55 Ministries Headquarters is located in the Aquiles Serdán district of Reynosa Mexico, just south of Hidalgo, Texas.  The ministry is part of a community near the “Red Light District” of Reynosa, and local immigrant shelters in the area temporarily house travelers, primarily from Central America, attempting to reach the United States.
• In partnership with Isaiah 55, we expect to use this opportunity to share the Gospel and invite the youth we meet to be part of an after school program hosted weekly in the neighborhood.  We will partner with La Iglesia Camino de Fe, a reformed church, in Reynosa.
• Temporary medical clinics will be set up and run by our mission team in the local community surrounding the Isaiah 55 headquarters and a nearby migrant shelter.
• The Isaiah 55 Ministries Dorm Facility provides comfortable lodging and meals.
• Summer weather will be predictably Hot (98ºF daily average temperature).
