Vacation Bible School

"2017: SonRise national park"
Tuesday, June 20 - Friday, June 23
9 am - 12 pm

Vacation Bible School is a highlight of the summer at Redeemer! Our campus is full of kids, teens and adults engaged in music, laughter, learning, worship and fun. We typically have about 200 kids attend VBS and over 80 volunteers to make it happen. Our halls come alive with the theme of our VBS, story-tellers are in costume and our snacks even coordinate with our theme. It's an all-church effort and it's a blast! On this page is everything you need to know.

Frequently Asked Questions

How old do my children need to be to participate?

Our main VBS program is for children entering grades 1-5 in the fall.

Children entering Kindergarten in the fall or aged 5 by September 1, 2017 and whose parents are volunteering with VBS will be enrolled in Kinder VBS. Students in Kinder VBS will attend the opening and closing assemblies of VBS. Their classes will follow along with the themes and fun of our main VBS program.

The Redeemer nursery is open by reservation for children ages 3 months to 4 years old whose parents are volunteering with VBS. Nursery is offered for VBS Volunteers 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (drop off at 8:45). Please note that we have VBS themed and developmentally appropriate stories, crafts, snacks, recreation time, and activities planned for the 3's and 4's in the Nursery area. The 4's students will also be participating in the opening and closing assemblies

Volunteers

TEEN VOLUNTEERS: Volunteer registration is now closed.

I am not able to volunteer for VBS. Are there other ways I can help?
Yes! We will have a set-up day at church on Monday, June 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Feel free to join us in setting up classrooms, decorations and food prep that morning! The nursery will be open by reservation that morning for children ages 2 months to 4 years old whose parents are helping with set up. If you will need a spot in the nursery for your child on Monday morning, please sign up HERE.

Donations for VBS Supplies: You can also help with our supplies list. We have a list of needed donations for our various crafts, skits and activities for VBS. You can find the list HERE. Please drop off donations in the pre-K CE rooms!
You can also support our VBS program with a donation of a gift card, especially to Costco or Wal-Mart. These will be used to purchase supplies for our VBS program. You can drop off your donations in the church office.

Food Donations for the VBS Celebration Reception: This year, to highlight the culmination of our VBS program, we will be hosting a continental breakfast for our VBS participants, their families and our volunteers! It will be held in the Fellowship Hall after the first service on Sunday, June 25th. We would greatly appreciate any help with food donations from our congregation! Things to know before you arrive for VBS
  • VBS shirts are included in the registration cost. You can pick yours up the first morning of VBS when you check in.
  • Dress your children in clothes that can get wet and/or messy. We love to have fun and sometimes messes are part of that!
  • Please don't send any toys, extra clothes, or backpacks. We rotate throughout the building during the day and it is difficult to keep up with extra belongings. We want your kids to be free of any extra resposibilities. (But diaper bags are welcomed and encouraged in the nursery!)
Drop off and pick up
  • Please arrive by 8:50 a.m. the first day to get checked in and find your correct group. There will be greeters at the registration tables to help point you where you need to go!
  • All students must be checked in each day by an adult at our kiosks at the registration table. These are located in the foyer across from the sanctuary.
  • After elementary-aged children are checked in at the registration table in the foyer, they may be dropped off inside the sanctuary with their group. Your child will be placed in a group according to the grade level he or she has just completed.
  • If someone other than you will be picking up your child, please let your child's Group Leader know when you drop them off. The group leader will take down a name and phone number for the person who is picking up your child. That person will be required to show picture ID to the group leader to verify the correct adult is picking up your child.

Snack Menu
*If your child has any allergies or sensitivities to a particular snack, please clearly label and send appropriate snacks with them to VBS.
Tuesday: Oranges, gluten-free pretzel sticks, jelly beans, small cheese slices.
Wednesday: Goldfish, Twizzlers, pretzel sticks.
Thursday: Bananas, Teddy Grahams.
Friday: Trail mix of gluten-free Chex cereal, popcorn and raisins.
