Redeemer Members and Friends,

Grace and peace to you in Christ Jesus our Lord, who has been crucified for our sins and has risen again to bring us new life. Alleluia! And blessed Holy Week to all of you.

I write on behalf of the Redeemer Session, as we are pleased to recommend to the congregation that the Rev. Dr. Bryant McGee, currently our Assistant Pastor of Congregational Life, become Redeemer's Associate Pastor of Congregational Life. In order to act on this recommendation, the Session has called a congregational meeting for Sunday, April 7th, immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service, so that the congregation can vote to call Rev. McGee as its associate pastor. Bryant blog

The key difference between an assistant pastor and an associate pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America is that associate pastors are called by the congregation and assistants are called by the Session (The Book of Church Order of the Presbyterian Church in America, 22.2-3). Upon installation, associate pastors also become full members of the church session.

We look forward to this next step for Bryant and Jennifer and all of us, as the Lord continues to build his church here at Redeemer! Please join us for our congregational meeting on April 7th.

I also hope to see you at our Holy Week services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday and then on Easter Sunday. I leave you with this Holy Week prayer taken from the Book of Common Prayer:  Almighty God, whose dear Son went not up to joy but first he suffered pain, and entered not into glory before he was crucified: Mercifully grant that we, walking in the way of the cross, may find it none other than the way of life and peace; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
