A Summer Reading Recommendation for Parents

Parents, if you’re feeling like you are limping out of the school year and stumbling into summer, you are not alone! Oftentimes we have big goals and dreams, not only for ourselves, but also for our children. With the summer approaching we can feel depleted and defeated from falling short of a standard we set for ourselves or our families.

If you’re looking for some encouragement or wanting to hit the reset button, I would like to recommend Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family by Paul David Tripp as a summer read for you.

Spoiler alert: this book will be both refreshing and challenging! The author gives us insight into a Big Gospel Parenting Worldview which can be easily lost in the daily shuffle of family life. So consider adding this to your summer list of books for upcoming road trips or poolside reading this summer. Armed with this energizing perspective, we can head into summer not trying to curtail or dodge parenting challenges, but rather engaging those opportunities and our families with the gospel.

Here’s the beauty of the gospel — God’s not done with us or our children. It’s not too late. Summer is a great time to redeem the stress of the school year and take a step back to regain some big picture parenting perspective. I hope this book is encouraging to you, and that you can find new rhythms of rest and reflection in this new season.
