The Redeemer Session calls a congregational meeting for Sunday, June 6th for the purpose of voting on a change of call for Rev. Matthew Beham to Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation and electing our 2024 class of officers.

The Session is pleased to recommend to the congregation that Rev. Beham, currently Redeemer’s Assistant Pastor of Youth and Children’s Ministries, become Redeemer’s Associate Pastor of Spiritual Formation. The key difference between an assistant pastor and an associate pastor in the Presbyterian Church in America is that associate pastors are called by the congregation and assistants are called by the Session (BCO 22.2-3). Upon installation, associate pastors also become full members of the Session. In order to act on this recommendation, the congregation must vote to call Pastor Beham as an associate pastor at our congregational meeting.

Blog Behams

Pastor Beham joined the RPC staff in 2008 as a youth ministry intern the same year he and his wife, Haley, were married. The Behams have two children, Elliotte, 6, and Graham, 3. Pastor Beham’s longstanding leadership and care for the children, youth and families of our congregation has been a joy to the Session and a gift to the body of Redeemer. This call is a reflection of both a practical need at Redeemer for Pastor Beham to assume more responsibility, as well as a recognition of his growth and gifting in ministry. The Session also gives thanks for Haley Beham, whose commitment, hospitality, and opening of the Beham family’s life to ministry has been a means of extending the Gospel to many over the years.

At the June 6th meeting, Redeemer will also hold an election for the offices of elder and deacon. Returning candidates for the office of elder are Bernard Hildebrand, Jason Register and Jason Smith. Returning candidates for the office of deacon are Robert Bondurant, Wes Bright, and Charlie Hargis. Click here to read a bio of each officer candidate.

As required, the Session has instructed, examined and approved these men in the qualifications, duties and their willingness to assume responsibility for ordained office in the Presbyterian Church in America. They are now being recommended by the Session to the congregation to be elected at the upcoming congregational meeting on June 6th immediately following the 11 a.m. worship service. If you are not comfortable attending the meeting in person, you may cast a ballot in the Redeemer foyer during either worship service that morning. We encourage those in the congregation who are able to attend this meeting in person to do so in order to help reach a quorum.

In the next 30 days, we invite the congregation into a season of prayer. Join us in giving thanks for Matt and Haley Beham and in praying for their family and ministry together. Please also get to know our candidates for office if you do not already, and be prayerful for them and their families.
