May 12 Update from the Pulpit Committee

Greetings Redeemer members and friends,

“I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.” –Psalm 89:1

As the Psalmist reminds us above, God is faithful to His church! We have seen His steadfast care even in these early stages of the Senior Pastor search and are excited to update you on our progress. Last month, 90 of our members graciously participated in a Discovery Weekend hosted by our consulting firm McGowan Global Institute. The Discovery Weekend was used to interview Redeemer members for further insight into our whole church body’s needs and hopes for our next Senior Pastor.

As a result of the Discovery Weekend, McGowan’s overall church assessment, first, highlighted the abundant grace God has showered on our Redeemer family for almost two decades! In their words, “Redeemer is a stable and healthy church family. God’s pleasure has been to prosper your journey.” Let us be encouraged that we are in a uniquely blessed position as we walk through our first pastoral transition as a healthy, engaged and thriving church body. Thanks be to God for His providence!

Second, as mentioned earlier, the Discovery Weekend gave us valuable feedback from members within a broad cross-section of Redeemer. This overall congregational perspective helped us create the new RPC Church Profile and the RPC Senior Pastor Profile. The Church Profile is intended to give candidates a snapshot of the history, mission and vision of Redeemer. The Senior Pastor Profile sets forth the traits, commitments and qualifications the committee will be looking for in a Senior Pastor as we interview candidates. Take a look and share with others!

As the preparation phase of our pastoral search closes, our next step is to start the candidate search in June. Please help us by praying as we begin identifying and securing candidates for consideration:

  • Praise God for the gifts of leadership in the Session and church staff that he developed in our church; Ask for continued provision of wisdom for them during our pastoral transition.
  • Praise God for the faithful congregation and church family Jesus redeemed for His glory here at Redeemer; Ask that He strengthen our faith, unity and patience during this season.
  • Praise God for His humble calling of the pulpit committee members; Ask for wisdom, discernment, peace, unity, communication, smooth scheduling and consistent, devoted prayer habits as we go through the steps of the search.
  • Praise God for his sovereign, future provision of our next senior pastor; Ask that God continue to direct our future pastor’s steps toward His calling here at Redeemer.

Lastly, if you know qualified candidates who you believe should consider applying, please invite them to go through the process of registering with McGowan Global Institute using this link.

Thank you for your prayer and humble reliance on our faithful God and Savior during this next phase of the candidate search. May God be glorified here at Redeemer as we build one another up in love, unity and prayer during this season. For ongoing updates, visit our Senior Pastor Transition page.

In Christ,

The Pulpit Committee (as elected by the congregation)
