RPC Youth Staff Update

May 10 2018
May 10 2018

By

I am excited to announce to Redeemer Youthies, parents and the congregation that Redeemer has hired a new full-time member of the Youth Staff, and has also hired a new Youth Intern.

Julianne Atkinson will be a full time member of the Redeemer Youth staff. Julianne has been a volunteer with the Redeemer senior high youth group for a year. I am so thankful for the relationships she has built with the young women of our congregation in that time, and I am thrilled that in this role she can further develop her discipleship and counseling of them.

Johnathan Smith will be RPC’s summer Youth Intern, working from June to August. As Youthies and parents will know, the summer is a very busy time for the Redeemer youth group, and we are excited to have Johnathan on board to build relationships and assist with the work of youth ministry.

Julianne is a native of Arlington, Virginia, and became a Christian during her junior year in high school at a Christian sports camp. Since then she felt a call to ministry. Julianne studied community development at Covenant College in Chattanooga, Tennessee and has spent the last several years in ministry as a youth intern in San Francisco and in several Christian homeless missions and ministries in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Columbia, South Carolina and Fairbanks, Alaksa. Julianne and her husband Spencer, who is a resident at Brooke Army Medical Center, have attended Redeemer since 2017.

Johnathan was born and raised in Georgetown, Texas, and is currently a student at Texas Tech University, pursuing a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. Johnathan is exploring a call to ministry and has previous experience as a volunteer with youth groups and mission trips. He is active in Reformed University Fellowship at Texas Tech.

As most of you know, RPC’s current Youth Intern Robert Marshall will be returning to his hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee to pursue a master’s degree. May 13th is his last Sunday. We are so thankful for Robert’s year with us.

Johnathan and Julianne start their new roles officially on June 3rd. Please join us in welcoming them and encouraging them in their ministry!
