Redeemer is pleased to announce new hires for Children’s Ministry and Young Adult Ministry at RPC.

Children’s Ministry: Sara Brouillard will join the RPC staff as Children’s Ministry Coordinator in January, working alongside RPC Director of Children’s Ministry Amy Pastoor as Amy, her husband, Kevin, and their two sons prepare to move to their next military posting in Florida in 2024. Sara Brouillard’s first day on the staff will be January 1st; February 29th will be Amy Pastoor’s last day on the staff. Sara will serve as Director of Children’s Ministry after Amy’s departure.

Sara Brouillard and her husband, Jeff, have been members at Redeemer since 2007. They have three children. Sara previously served on the RPC staff in 2017 and 2018, providing administrative support for Redeemer’s Building for the Future Capital Campaign, and says that experience gave her a love for working with the church staff. For the last seven years she has worked as a yoga instructor for adults and children in the San Antonio community, and spends Fridays leading kindergartners in 30-minute yoga classes. In that time, Sara has also served as a large group Bible teacher for Redeemer’s Women’s Bible Studies and is a regular volunteer with Redeemer’s Training in the Pews program offered during the sermon for children’s ages 4-6.

Though these different kinds of work have not always felt connected, Sara says it is beautiful to see how God has used each one to equip her for this new role in children’s ministry at Redeemer.

“In my work as a yoga instructor I have grown in my ability to manage classes of children and I love it,” Sara says. “Through teaching women’s Bible study for the last five years I have grown to love really studying the Bible and pulling out its truths and teaching them in an understandable way. Today I can see how God can use me in this space and how he has prepared me to serve him here. … Our kids have grown up in the children’s ministry at Redeemer, and and I hope to continue to grow what we offer our children and families at Redeemer.”

Amy Pastoor expressed her love and thanks to Redeemer’s congregation and to the many volunteers who serve in children’s ministry at RPC.

“Serving at Redeemer has been a blessing, not only for me, but for Kevin and the boys as well,” Amy says. “I will miss being a part of it, but I am so excited for Sara to experience your encouragement and service, and I’m looking forward to see how her gifts and talents will grow our Children’s Ministry.”

Young Adult Ministry: Redeemer Sunday Morning Logistics Coordinator Erin Hurt will add to her role on staff to serve as Young Adult Coordinator, working alongside RPC Co-Lead Pastor Matt Beham to expand this growing ministry at Redeemer. Erin will continue as Sunday Morning Logistics Coordinator, leading Redeemer’s volunteer teams for ushering and communion.

Erin and her husband, Morriss, have been leading the Young Adult Ministry at Redeemer since 2022 as volunteers. In that time, the ministry has grown and is welcoming more new young adults to Redeemer each month. Pastor Beham says Erin’s new staff role allows Redeemer to invest further in the Young Adult Ministry.

“It’s been a joy working alongside Erin and Morris this last year to welcome young adults to Redeemer and help them grow in Christ,” he says. “I look forward to the next chapter in that work. And it is such a delight to welcome Sara Brouillard back to the Redeemer staff to lead children’s ministry. We will be very sad to say farewell to the Pastoors, but we are so thankful for Amy’s joyful leadership for our children in her time at Redeemer.”

Please join us in thanking Amy Pastoor for her faithful work with Redeemer’s children, and lift her family up in prayer as they prepare for this move. Please also encourage Sara and Erin as they embark on new roles at Redeemer and pray for them and their families.
