Redeemer is pleased to announce the arrival of Pablo Chavarria, who joins the RPC staff as Latin American Pastor Fellow. Pablo and his wife, Velia, have come from Monterrey, Mexico, where Pablo planted Cumbres del Rey Church Presbyterian Church. Cumbres del Rey is associated with both the longstanding Centro para la Plantación de Iglesias (CPI) church planting network and City to City Latin America, an arm of global church planting movement Redeemer City to City, a ministry of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York.

Rev. Chavarria has been an ordained minister in the Northeast Presbytery of the National Presbyterian Church of Mexico since 2010. The Chavarrias have one daughter, Grace. They will spend two years in San Antonio, joining into the life and work of the Redeemer congregation and learning from its ministry leaders and pastors. Pablo photo

The Latin American Pastor Fellowship at RPC grew out of Redeemer’s ongoing relationship with CPI and City to City church planters in Northern Mexico. As RPC Senior Pastor Tom Gibbs and Associate Pastor Victor Martinez traveled to Monterrey over the years to offer training to church planters, the idea of the fellowship developed. The fellowship offers a learning opportunity for a pastor from Latin America to come to San Antonio and work closely with pastors and staff in the RPC system, learning ministry philosophies and structures to take with them to their ministries in Mexico, and for Redeemer ministry leaders to learn from the visiting minister as well.

The fellowship also deepens Redeemer’s ties with City to City Latin America and their strategic initiatives, which align closely with Redeemer’s vision to help develop ministries and raise up healthy churches on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border.

Please join us in welcoming Rev. Chavarria and his family to Redeemer, and encourage them as they begin their time here!

Chavarrias
