Reminder About Important Congregational Vote

June 03 2020

Good afternoon!

I want to remind you that this upcoming Sunday, June 7th, is an important day because we will have opportunity to vote for our next class of Redeemer elders and deacons. New candidates for the office of elder are Jeff Brouillard, Zack Burkhart, and Alan Williams. Other candidates for the Session include returning elders John Fitch and Winston Meeker. Vicente Jaime is a new candidate for the office of deacon. Returning candidates for the diaconate are James Sedgwick and Dan Wachdorf. Please click here to read a bio of each officer candidate.

Unfortunately, due to social-distancing measures currently in place, we will not be able to conduct this congregational vote in our typical manner. This Sunday we will commence the congregational meeting immediately following the first service, which will be around 9:10 a.m. In order to officially conduct the vote, a quorum is required to be present, which for Redeemer amounts to at least 98 communing members. This means that if you're slated to attend worship this Sunday at 8 a.m. (Group 4), your presence is as important as ever. I want to strongly encourage those of you in this group to join us for worship, unless pre-existing health conditions or other issues absolutely prevent you from doing so.

Ballots will be stuffed into the bulletins placed on seats in the sanctuary of usable rows. After the meeting begins, those in that first service will fill out their ballots and place them in boxes stationed at the exits to the building. Rather than closing the meeting after the first service, however, the meeting will remain open throughout the morning. Worshippers in subsequent services will vote and place their ballots in the boxes as they also exit the building. For those who are not slated to worship this Sunday but who would like to vote, you are encouraged to come downtown during the 9:30 or 11 a.m. service. Ballots and a ballot box will be available for you in the main, glassed foyer of the building. All voting will conclude at 12:30 p.m.

Friends, I am truly encouraged by these men. Your Session heartily recommends each of them and has become convinced they demonstrate the Christian character and giftedness appropriate to the office for which they are recommended. Let's continue in prayer for them and for our church. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we take this important step in the life of our congregation's leadership.

For Christ our Redeemer,

The Rev. Dr. Thomas C. Gibbs
Senior Pastor
Redeemer Presbyterian Church
